Board Recruitment

Nisqually Land Trust – Call for new Board Members

The Nisqually Land Trust is seeking people interested in joining our board.  We are looking for individuals who care deeply about our mission of protecting and stewarding lands to permanently benefit the water, fish, wildlife, and people of the Nisqually River Watershed.  If you have the time, energy, and expertise to help, we will be accepting letters of interest until November 10.

The Nisqually Land Trust Board provides policy and strategic direction to the organization, reviews and approves the annual budget, and provides fiscal oversight. It also reviews and approves new land acquisitions, champions the organization in the community, and helps connect new partners and supporters.

What you can expect

The board meets monthly, typically online on the evening of the third Thursday of the month. There are a few in-person meetings, either on the third Thursday evening or Saturday retreats.

We encourage board members to also participate in at least one of our committees, which include land acquisitions, finance, development, events, and governance. These typically meet online.

Next Steps

Letters of interest (due Nov. 10) should include the following information:

  • Why do you want to serve on the board of the Nisqually Land Trust?
  • What is your interest in/connection to the Nisqually watershed?
  • Do you have any past involvement in the Nisqually Land Trust or our close partners? (not a requirement, but we are interested to know if you have)
  • Would this be your first time on a board, or have you served on other boards?
  • Where do you live?
  • What other community connections do you have?
  • Do you have any areas of expertise that you think will be of use on the board?

Please email letters of interest or questions to our Executive Director, Jeanette Dorner, at by November 10.

Not ready for a full board commitment but still want to help?  We are also looking for people who can help us connect with more folks in the community, either by helping us with our annual events, such as our Conservation Dinner and Auction, Annual Meeting, and Salmon Bake, or tabling at local community events. Email Jeanette at if you are interested.
